As a company working in the digital domain, Mitsue-Links takes the impact of the web on society and the environment seriously. While the internet offers great convenience, data transmission and device usage require energy and are thus not independent of environmental impact. In addition, websites serve as a “gateway to society” for everyone, making accessibility to information an important issue.

Against this backdrop, we strive to improve the sustainability of the web. We place great importance on balancing environmental consideration with inclusive information delivery that leaves no one behind.

Dark mode is considered to consume less power on devices, such as OLED displays, and helps reduce energy consumption from everyday web browsing – which, over time, accumulates. Therefore, we have proactively adopted the dark mode feature across our entire website to promote environmental consideration.

For users in environments where bright screens cause glare, or for those who require strong contrast for better visibility, dark mode provides a more readable viewing experience.

This initiative also contributes to improved accessibility, supporting the objective to create a web that everyone can use at ease and delivers higher user experience.

In addition, our staff are participating in the development of the Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG) being advanced by the W3C Sustainable Web Interest Group. Furthermore, we actively share knowledge and raise awareness about Sustainable Web Design and the WSG through seminars, columns, and blog articles.
